Story:

Life in Japan                                                                                                                        _

Tomo lives in the urban area at Gunma Prefecture who recently moved in with his cousin, Kogure Seishiro after his parents decide to leave him be in Kogure’s care. Tomo was keeping hidden resentments which he expressed to Kogure which he has been longing. Kogure gave him the assurance that it is his time for him to explore what he needs to explore – his dream of being in the auto racing environment. Tomo was being envied in his class, despite him keeping a small group of friends and distancing himself from his classmates for good measure – he was soon nearly pummeled and drowned to death at lake Akina over the ruse of a Mathematics homework he decides to extort his classmates over as a form for being manipulated by them. At his assumed death bed while his body sinks down the lake, he accepted his fate thinking he’s the fire that lights everyone’s oils – he hated himself for being too good, too proud, too… everything. He wanted to die at that point; at most he lost consciousness. He was rescued by a certain girl who then made the arrangements to get Tomo into the ward. He woke up with selective amnesia where his affected memory was of Kogure’s. Unbeknownst to Tomo, Kogure took care of the people responsible while he recovers. By the time he is fully recovered, Tomo recalls Kogure but he no longer sees him around. His only memory of Kogure is the white Nissan CS14 Silvia and the paperwork for the basic class of the Akiyama Racing school.

Following those events, Tomo moved on with his highschool life with his best friends Hiei & Ryuusen despite the missing memory which did not faze him. Later, he rescued Kasumi Nadeshiko, who was soon to be assaulted by thugs from another school, by scaring them away. His life was again put on the line when he tried to plow his way through the thugs, ending up with Kasumi saving him instead after the leader was knocked out by her. Later on, he became more engaged in the street racing community after he crossed lanes with Kyosuke Katsumaru, who turns out to be his schoolmate. Kyosuke even gave him a new car to start with, given his ties with his work for a hand-me-down Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R base model. Kasumi and Tomo have been seeing each other more regularly right after the moment she realized that she was a regular around the street racing community, after being brought around Mt. Myogi by Natsumi Tanoshiku, another of Tomo’s schoolmates whom he is emotionally attached to as well.

Tomo eventually became active in the racing world, garnering the attention of street racers in the Northern Kantou area hoping to challenge him – a young prodigy winning races in a near-stock Nissan Skyline R34 with little experience. He got the attention of the White charisma of Gunma – Takeshi Musashiro, Irohazaka’s Underground legend – Genjuro Densetsu, and even the newest famed female street racer of Gunma, Natsumi Tanoshiku. Tomo overcame them all and continued to improve – he was even given an offer by Takeshi for some pre-professional training to improve on his racing skills which he willingly accepted. To him, it is his steppingstone to his dream career.

As graduation is around the corner, Tomo became active with Reminiscent White, then soon traversed over to Noyzee Tribe, a new teamed made by the combined forces of Tomo – the Group A specialist, Kyosuke the lightweight specialist and his C and B class machines, and the Rotary Brothers of Saitama – Kitami and Shinosuke Kitamaru. He starts to become aware of his feelings with his friends and he is in fear of losing them the moment he takes a huge step up in his career. Before graduation, he aimed to be a known street racing group alongside them to get the attention of the professionals.  He got the attention of Daiki Akiyama, the racing prince of Japan; the youngest racing specialist of the country who soon challenged him to a three-way duel to teach him the elements of racing in each battle. He was given the opportunity to join the professional league, living out his dream, right after graduation. Discontent for his feelings with Rikona Shimmitsu, his long term crush, he asks her out on a date (Tomo’s very first) to put some proper closure and for Tomo’s guarantee that she, knowing Tomo’s feelings, won’t waver. Unfortunately for Tomo, it didn’t last to her but he wasn’t disappointed as his love for Kasumi (and Sakura Johina, his childhood friend and Tomo’s significant racing other) continues to grow while in the pro league.

The World League                                                                                                                 _

Tomo soon expanded his horizons and grew up under the hands of Daiki Akiyama and the rest of team Japan. They soon went to their first location outside Japan – Italy. Tomo got to meet Kitana Tioseco, Daiki’s apprentice back in the day, who was rumoured to be the European Matador of Italy with her Lamborghini Diablo. Tomo, who is in a romantic state of confusion, mistook her for Rikona Shimmitsu and got beat up for it. Tomo went through some romantic relapses when he received a letter from Rikona who decided to let go of her feelings for her as time passed – throwing away all his feelings for her. Tomo talked to Kazuhiko Aizawa, a visiting accomplice of Daiki’s who counseled Tomo about his feelings, blinded by his “undying” affection for someone who pushed her aside, neglecting the feelings of the girl who is caring for her – Kasumi. A momentary rift came in between Tomo and Kasumi but it was mended back after guaranteeing each other’s feelings, prior to Tomo’s battle against Kitana: a 300 kilometer sprint from Cote D Azur all the way to Kitana’s private circuit southeast of Italy.  The race ended in a double blow, but Tomo’s R34 lived; which brought about a mystery to everyone. As compensation for the efforts they went through for Kitana, Tomo repaired her Lamborghini, giving it the GT2 treatment before leaving Italy.

They went to the United States, starting at San Francisco, California, to continue on at Infineon Raceway – the next venue of the International GT League (IGTL). Tomo got involved with American street Racing, dubbed the “underground” and got the attention of the most wanted street racer with the greatest ranked infractions: Lucas Scott. Outside racing, Tomo exercised his learning in the culinary field at restaurants around California, got intimately closer to Kasumi, and even met Lucas Scott himself outside racing; not to mention got mistakenly arrested by the local police due to his vehicle misinformation. Tomo confronted Lucas Scott under the instruction of the detective, tasked to handle the Lucas Scott case, to take him down. Tomo was successful in beating Lucas’s Chevrolet Corvette Z06 down to a classic canyon battle which ended up with Lucas being arrested. He chased after Sakura’s debut at Infineon right after to show his support to her. In the end, Tomo and Lucas had a heart to heart talk about pride that got Tomo to think about what he’s getting into. Lamenting over Lucas’ words, he got ambushed by a Dodge Viper and was ultimately defeated.

Going to the next place at Vancouver Canada, Tomo becomes passive around the members of Team Japan but continues to act fine, in order not to worry Kasumi nor Sakura. Comically, Tomo was confronted by Canadian young gun model Nathan Archibald Jr., who kissed Kasumi in public. Tomo recalls the same Dodge Viper he raced back at California, and turns out to be Nathan’s. He was soon provoked to race to get back at what he did to Kasumi but he received humble apologies by the time he meets his father – Nathan Archibald Sr. Nathe offered to provide them their mansion to stay in as they prepare for the next round. Tomo was confronted by Nathan Sr. when he found out that he is daily a culinarian and a professional racer at the same time – he was tested to prove his priorities. Nathan Sr. rebuked Tomo off his rights to his car and forced him to go full time as a chef in his place. Tomo broke down in the end and opened up to Kasumi that he is like a pendulum – he cannot live with just one and needs the other half in his life [he was pertaining to his careers]. To escape his depression, he asked Sakura’s help in getting him to race again, where Tomo met Kyosuke again, who self evicted himself from the team back at Italy. Tomo was given the chance to defend himself from Nathan Sr.’s taunts which one was important to him. Tomo bluntly said that he needed both in his life – an answer that is unconventional. Nathan wanted Tomo to prove it by suddenly requesting Tomo to a point to point race, similar to that of his battle with Kitana from Cypress Bowl Road to the mountain peaks totaling a round trip of 200 miles. Tomo faced off against Nathan Sr.’s Ford GT Heritage and Nathe’s SRT Hennessey Venom viper. He placed second next to Nathan Sr., disappointed with a loss but was able to prove to Nathan Sr. how equally important racing also is to Tomo, the same way his current career is too. He left at good terms with the Archibald’s where Dorothy, Nathan’s wife thanked him for awakening Nathan Sr.’s youthful self, a lingering wish Nathan wanted to fulfill before his life ends, something that Tomo was able to provide him.

Viaggio Grande                                                                                                                     _

After the events of Canada, they went straight to Argentina for the next round at Buenos Aires Raceway – Autodromo Oscar Y Galvez. There, Tomo even felt more distant from Daiki and the rest. He feels he is unimportant to the group and he’s just wasted space. Things slightly changed when he met Adrianna Eizaguirre, the Argentine Queen of motorsports. Adrianna was asked by Daiki to race Tomo to a full lap at Oscar Galvez raceway. Tomo obliged and was ultimately defeated – giving him the impression Daiki wanted this to happen – to demoralize him. After the race, Adrianna left the racetrack and Tomo felt obligated to thank her for the race. All of a sudden, Adrianna felt a sudden connection with Tomo and started hallucinating and going crazy, according to Tomo, whom Adrianna branded as her deceased brother, Marcelo. Tomo kept trying to correct Adrianna’s thinking scripturally contesting to Adrianna that the dead are dead and do not haunt the living. As her sickness grew worse, Tomo felt responsible for her relapses. She started visiting Adrianna, accepting her woes of her deceased brother but little by little correcting her about it. They soon became close, through Kasumi, Sakura, and Ein’s activities. The 4 of them understand Adrianna really well.

They went towards Hawaii next for the following round of the IGTL where things escalate for Tomo from bad to worse with his relationship with Daiki. Unknown to the truth that this mysterious awakening was the cause of it all, Tomo went to the extremes and puts himself on the line to prove and protect what racing means to him. In the end, Tomo snapped and insulted Daiki sarcastically, involving everyone else and got slapped by Kasumi. He stayed at the Eizaguirre residence hoping to patch things up with Adrianna. With their relationship mended, due to a misunderstanding, Tomo was moved by Adrianna to patch things up with Kasumi after what happened. They were able to get back together despite their quarrel (Kasumi felt she was being replaced after seeing one act of gratefulness by Adrianna) and they moved forward to take charge of the next task of saving Adrianna from her own Disorder. While staying there thinking of what to do, Tomo felt regretful of his actions against Daiki whereas Kasumi gave light to the matter to not pin the blame on anyone for what Tomo has done as his true intention is to stay in a gray line in the world that is black and white. Tomo was soon asked by Kasumi to help Sakura out, who just came from a defeat she cannot accept. Tomo consoled Sakura, even with lingering feelings for her despite him taking his relationship with Kasumi seriously, and gave her an intimate farewell from the racing world. Ein soon confronted Tomo about racing against Adrianna but Tomo gave stern assurance to Ein that they had to go through it for her sake and nothing bad will happen. Tomo soon faced Adrianna in the Grand Adventure to guarantee Adrianna’s liberation. He felt no fear but knows he will take responsibility for what happens to Adrianna. Kasumi placed much faith in Tomo and Adrianna that they will succeed.

Return to Japan                                                                                                                     _

Returning back to Japan, Tomo felt lost being back in his home land, he was scrutinized and judged for self evicting himself from team Japan and was called to be not prideful of his nationality. Tomo was in a full state of confusion as he contends with both changing views of the public about him, and this Awakening that he will soon experience. He soon became more active in the Wangan after selling off Kogure’s place and getting a new place in Tokyo. He continues to face off against a haunting past – Kogure Seishiro, returning as Keisuke Mamoru – the person he once forgot by accident.

He suddenly is being overwhelmed by the thought of losing everything he held dear, he started thinking deeply about his future in co-relation to his Awakening. Tomo never wanted to let go of his friends and his love interest, Kasumi. Confronting Keisuke, he hoped that he’d be able to mend the years he was apart from him but in the end he was left alone again after his duty as the “joker” ended. Tomo’s love to Kasumi was tested once again when Ryuusen became too realistic to Kasumi during Tomo’s race at Osaka. Tomo, himself felt the same thing and seeks answers through driving. After being consoled by his best friend Ryuusen Kennichi, who owed a favor to Tomo and Hiei for saving him from a possible case of suicide, Tomo ran back to Kasumi to prove his true feelings to Kasumi and guarantee they will never separate, even with the mysterious awakening they are both expecting and fearing.

Personality:

Tomo is an imbalanced optimist who loves to help people out. He’s kind to those around him, more so to those who deserve his kindness. Due to his good nature, he’s the heat in everyone’s eye that they want to take out. As much as possible, Tomo tries to be different, unique, to the point of being labeled as awkward, weird, and the like. Tomo though has tendencies of going to extremes, and is stubborn with his decisions but at the same time indecisive. He gives equal importance to things that mean a lot to him, especially that of his friends. Oftentimes, he is seen to be hyperactive, especially when around his close friends Hiei and Ryuusen.

Tomo was proven to be a dedicated lover to his love interest, and gives less regard to their circumstances thinking that caring for his significant other is his great importance; this was very evident whenever he is around Kasumi. He even went through extremes such as taking hits for Kasumi when they were surrounded by thugs back when they first met. Despite this, he does tend to be emotionally attached to girls that he is close to – such as Sakura, Natsumi, and Rikona as to name a few, which causes some complications with his relationship with Kasumi. Even so, this did not deter his love for her as Kasumi’s also friends and open to her relationship with him.  Tomo sometimes tend to carry some imbalanced switch that often snaps and pushes him over the edge. His one fear is to lose hold of those people dear to him and regards high value to his promises, no matter how miniscule they are. He does not seem to care about his own death, given he has seen death before when he was young.

Tomo is also passionate and dedicated about what he does. Like Sakura, and depending on the activity, he tends to be a perfectionist who sometimes thinks things too seriously. His driving motivation was always his friends and his love interest. He’s also spiritually adept with Christianity and carries some Bible verses as part of his life. He’s also known to be very emotional and tends to be quite philosophical as that of Keisuke Mamoru. People tend to say that he is being directed by his feelings; some call him a sensationalist of the good and bad kind. To Tomo, what keeps him going, in actuality, is his drive to be with Kasumi and maintain her support to him, the one person he’s intimately attached to.

Tomo hates being compared to anyone or anything and does not like compromising conversations that contradict his principles. He knows he is his own self and being compared to is a mockery of his identity; but this is a half-truth. Tomo does not like it when his friends or anyone he knows deeply is being insulted. More often than not, even if it wasn’t him who was insulted and it was someone else he knows; if that person is important to him or is of value-worth to Tomo, he gets angry on their behalf. To this, he tends to get ahead of himself emotionally and acts as a double edged sword to him. Tomo’s emotionally frail and vulnerable and believes that words hit him harder than physical assaults on him, which the latter he welcomes – a few words that would give him the sense of guilt and loss of hope, especially with regards to a relationship with someone close to him is enough to throw him into a state of depression which could last for half a day or more.

Despite all these flaws of his, he never hated a person for who they are but he does bear a grudge to those who hurt him and those around him, regardless of race, upbringing, position, or relation. He never judges anyone for what their circumstances are and regardless of the labels other people mark them of as he makes focus primarily on their good traits; Tomo freely accepts their faults and considers them unique. Although branded the same way, he never looked at himself as abnormal with this kind of mindset; despite his positivity about people, he’s one who doesn’t let anyone easily push him around. In the past, he used to be like that but he learned to exploit them back if they tend to go too far with their exploiting of his concern for other people.

Relationships:

Tomo, as his name dictates, is quite friendly to people and easily tends to make pacts & friendships with people he meets in his life due to his positive attitude and carefree and oftentimes childlike personality. People liked and hated him for this since he acts more real in what he calls a selfish, self centered world. Among everyone he’s close to, these are the people important to Tomo’s heart:

Kasumi Nadeshiko

Tomo’s primary love interest. How they met was a simple “hi-hello” while Tomo’s out looking for part time work when he started his new high school term. He saved her and they were close ever since – much like a Give and take scenario. They got to meet more afterwards and Tomo simply got attracted to her – both inside and outside. Tomo deeply cares for Kasumi and Kasumi does the same way. Despite reality trying to pry them apart from each other, Tomo admits that he cannot live without her. Out of all the girls Tomo was attracted to, Kasumi is one that he is very close to, as if she’s more than just a friend and a love interest. She acted like a mother to Tomo, especially during his breakdowns. Unknown to Tomo, Kasumi was the one who saved him when he nearly drowned in Akina lake because of the assault by his schoolmates.  Their relationship was constantly tested in multiple occasions to the point of her giving up on Tomo but they were able to work things out in the end and they mended their relationship through thick and thin.

Hiei Kamura & Ryuusen Kennichi

They are Tomo’s long time best friends since High School until his return from the IGTL and to present. Hiei was similar or beyond Tomo’s own capacity to be hyperactive in public and Tomo freely accepts this trait of his. Ryuusen was more of like the big brother of the group but easily joins in on their hyperactive antics. Ryuusen loves to be with them and all 3 of them equally care for each other like brothers. They stand up for Tomo the same way Tomo stands up for them during confrontations with others that try to ruin their relationship. These 3 look after each other’s flaws and carries each other shoulder to shoulder.

Sakura Johina

Sakura Johina was Tomo’s childhood friend and despite their difference in educational background [Sakura’s an accelerated student] and their choice of career [Sakura’s on the medical field], they kept close ties with each other and Tomo freely called her his genderbended counterpart. It was unknown if Sakura shares the same, deep, and intimate feelings like that of Kasumi even if they were comically fighting over him but Sakura freely gives Tomo her support, the same way he did in his own little way.

Daiki Akiyama

Tomo never had an idol back in the day, when he met Daiki, he inspired Tomo to improve further: someone he wanted to impress after their 3-round clash at Akagi, Tsuchisaka, and Tokyo. Daiki treated Tomo as his apprentice back in America and Tomo hangs around him most of the time to learn about racing principles and what not that Things changed when the awakening began but Tomo never hated Daiki – he just hated his awakening letting it dictate him. One thing’s for sure, Daiki was the reason why Tomo improved and decided to race in events against his favor.

Keisuke Mamoru

Also called Kogure Seishiro, by his self acclaimed pen name, Keisuke is Tomo’s non-blood related cousin who looked after Tomo in replace of his parents. Keisuke knows Tomo’s dreams and ambitions and encouraged him to chase after them, despite opposition. His philosophical attitude rubbed on Tomo especially when he started living alone. Keisuke returned with the purpose of fulfilling his Awakening’s role of making Tomo accept his. He went into hiding from Tomo and surprising him with his presence nearly gave Tomo the wrong impression of his actions and their reunion was near into a fight because of their actions and misinterpretations. The only thing that kept them together was Kasumi reminding them of what is more important now that they are back together.

Rikona Shimmitsu

Rikona is Tomo’s primary crush and love interest before he met Kasumi. His feelings for Rikona never stemmed beyond infatuation and he was very shy to approach her. Their relationship never grew beyond school friends, unfortunately as Rikona easily brushed aside Tomo’s feelings after graduation – a promise broken but it was expected. Tomo lets go of these feelings when he became serious with Kasumi though he still carries lingering feelings for her – shown when he met Minami Suzuki at Oahu Island. They met once when Tomo returned under the alias “Saezuri”, a young gun pop star whom Tomo collaborated with for old time’s sake alongside Kasumi who joined as a back up singer.

Minami Suzuki

Minami is a friend Tomo met at Oahu island who resembled Rikona Shimmitsu so much to Tomo. Minami, among Tomo’s love interests, is the least active driver among them, next to Kasumi. She doesn’t seem to garner that much interest in many things and is albeit clingy to her cousin Joseph. It is unknown to Tomo whether or not she shared the same feelings for him but Tomo was able to easily move on after a confrontation by Takeshi Musashiro when Tomo returned from Japan.

Natsumi Tanoshiku

Natsumi was a member of the student council like Rikona and was Tomo’s classmate and best friend next to Hiei and Ryuusen. Tomo and Natsumi tend to be in a lot of academic competitions against each other and that extended their friendship beyond acquaintances. It came to the point that Tomo developed a liking for Natsumi, same as Rikona. When Kasumi was kidnapped by a classmate of theirs for revenge, Natsumi helped Tomo out in rescuing her. Natsumi considers Tomo a really good friend before she parted and left for Seattle, Washington. In terms of driving, she’s like Tomo’s optimistic counterpart like but not in the same level as Sakura, driving a Nissan 350Z then soon traded it with Tomo’s CS14 Silvia.

Abilities

Racing is his best skill as a member of Team japan and is the main focus throughout the story, and that is what Tomo’s good at. Coincidentally, it is also a passive ability of his during other activities. Tomo’s best trait is summed up to one word: adaptability. Tomo can learn to adapt to situations, not as quick as other racing protagonists but he learns every chance he gets. It is rare for him to go to the extremes when it comes to his driving and this precaution of his is what kinda pulled him down to an above average kind of driver; far from Daiki Akiyama’s level, a level he is striving for.

Here are Tomo’s known and commonly used tactics:

  • Slipstreaming – when the opportunity presents itself, Tomo slipstreams behind his opponent to gather more speed and slingshot himself past to either gain the lead or keep pace to his rival.

  • Out In Out – A traditional move that Tomo utilizes – enters the corner from the far outside lane then attacks to the inside with full force until it exits the corner.

  • Late Shift Method – Tomo’s coined technique given he does not regularly engage the heel and toe method: Tomo enters the corner while braking without downshifting gears and either shifts down while engaging the gas through the corner or after exiting the corner to increase his acceleration and exit speed.

  • 4WD Drift – Considered cheating by RWD users but at the same time called as power over – Tomo brings the car down to a lower gear and utilizing the high spool of the turbine, he over spins his rear tires, to balance out the wear of the fronts, to induce the car into a drift position.

Cars

Tomo is loyal to the JDM theme as most Japanese street racers are but what caught his attention and his heart is the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R – Tomo’s favorite machine. Even with the release of the R35, he stays loyal to the R34. It was his dream car when he was young, and he received it as a gift from Kyosuke miraculously. He originally, though started with a detuned CS14 Nissan Silvia K’s. When he starts to main the R34, Tomo utilized its stock power configuration and trained himself to contend with the heaviness of the R34. It soon became his trademark how he was able to maximize so much out of a car that was intended to improve further.

Although when he got his Nissan Silvia after the events of the Mugen Epilogue were almost no different from standard, his own R34 went through various modifications throughout the timeline, inspired by other popular tunes of the R34:

Other than his own R34 and S14, he was able to drive other vehicles based on various events ongoing throughout the series:

  • Kyosuke’s Suzuki Cappuccino EA21R

  • Reia Kitsune’s Honda Civic EK9

  • Sakura Johina’s Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R

  • Rikona Shimmitsu’s SXE10 Toyota Altezza

  • Natsumi Tanoshiku’s Nissan 350Z version S Option wheel Z33

  • Adrianna / Ein’s Peugeot 205 Turbo 85’
