What is Mugen: After Story?
Supido no Densetsu: Mugen After story is the sequel to the long running Web Novel "Supido no Densetsu: Mugen - Akiyama Chronicles" broadcasted on the wmexpressway forums back in 2009 onwards. The story revolved on the 2005 life and street racing career of Daiki Akiyama, a wealthy genius professional racer who frequents the Tokyo [Wangan] Expressways. His story began from his many encounters on the highway until he was crowned as the Street's Prince of Racing.
Mugen: After Story is the succeeding title where Daiki was sent to 2003, 6 months after the events of Mugen: Akiyama Chronicles ended. Still contending with the loss of Claudia " Chloe" Fortescue, his first and only love, Daiki leaves the Tokyo Metropolis on orders of his vice-president and once-secretary Naoko Takahashi.
You play as a local girl from the Gunma Prefecture who meets up with Daiki himself and get tangled up in his little "past-time" - Mountain Street Racing; collectively called as the Touge.
Your goal can fall on one of two ways: You fall for Daiki and get him to take an interest in you, or you develop a trusted relationship with him. The road won't be easy though as the obstacles that impede your goal are closer than you think. More details below.
An Interactive Let's Play of IDAS7AAX
As a Stand-alone Visual Novel, Mugen: After Story is a work-in-progress story that stands in its own right as a proper sequel to the Mugen: Akiyama Chronicles main storyline. But what makes this unorthodox in comparison to other Visual Novels besides its niche genre of Racing (Popularized by Shuichi Shigeno's Initial D series), is its identity being an Interactive Let's Play Medium for MyogiWarrior34's gameplay of Initial D Arcade Stage 7 AAX, as popularized by SEGA for the arcade platforms.
Given the story of IDAS7AAX is non-canon to the original Initial D storyline, minus similar referenced moments, Mugen: After Story weaves its own identity giving the gameplay of IDAS7AAX a new hue of color to appreciate and a fresh new plot to make it stand out from its original plot line from the source material.
It's not what you say, But how you say it!
As you play as Hikari (default name; you can personalize her name to your liking and preference), You have a pre-set personality that you go by: a socially shy, cautious, slightly insecure, but pure-hearted idealist [who has a strong interest in coffee, milk tea, and Akiba Culture].; cautious in the sense that you either think or justify your actions before or after they are said or done.
You can compliment this personality with the game's choices but at the same time, you are free to break character to spice up not just how you act, but the entire story in general.
A general classification of your personality spice choices throughout the game revolve as:
-
Socially Thoughtful - you consider what you say, bearing in mind any repercussions that would affect you and your conversation partner. Oftentimes carries the most respectful and understanding of responses that builds reputation and overall social character.
-
Passively Helpful - Also known as providing help with the least bit of effort. You rely on the stereotypes you were once hung up on just to keep the ball rolling without giving it much thought. May sometimes come out as stating what is obvious and can oftentimes be used as an icebreaker but used too much, and you may come off as rude and wish not to be bothered. Regardless, some content said this way would still have some logic playing in the background.
-
Willingly Intimate - A range from concerned, thoughtful, to downright thirsty-slash-flirty, whether for all intended purposes of following the course of nature or just to break the serious tension, it could pass off as double meanings. Your words here would usually break the social norm and can be seen as something double edged. This spice normally keeps conversations fresh but when overused may come you off as a creep or giving responses for the wrong reasons. (i.e. getting into his pants)
