Fujin: Tsuchiya Chronicles is composed of 21 Episodes comprising of a prelude and the 20-episode series; The main characters below are arranged according to their corresponding debuts:

 

 

 

PRELUDE:
Seiji Tsuchiya – Male, 28, Journalist at Japan Tuning Kanagawa Edition, Lancer Evolution VIII Driver

Seiji Tsuchiya, the main character of the series, is a serious but soft spoken individual with a highly acknowledged racing ability. In most cases, although knowledgeable about cars and driving, he’s mostly an introvert and tends to keep his thoughts to himself. He carries a handgun on a holster around his body which serves, according to him, as his protection and is a memento of his deceased father, Soichiro Tsuchiya who was a Detective of the Kantou Regional Police Bureau. He has formed a strong but formal rivalry with Daiki Akiyama dated back less than 10 years ago and while Akiyama is part of the IGTL and undergone an extreme personality change, it disturbed Seiji so much and has been dragging that issue anywhere he goes. He’s acknowledged by his boss as a witty writer and is one of her best writers & editors. Seiji had a long-standing reputation as well on the highway, hence his feud with Daiki Akiyama, and was given the nickname of the “Wangan God” being the only driver of a Lancer Evolution to par and outclass racers who primarily main straight 6 machines with a 2.0L straight 4. Because of that recent occurrence of Akiyama’s change, and his sensation of a burnout for being on the Wangan for a long time, he’s seeking a way to rectify both situations in his life and find his purpose or reason for staying (for the latter).

Bio / Lifestory:


From an early age, Seiji went through a traumatic experience. Coming home one day from grade school, he found his mother being assaulted by a wanted intoxicated robber and was knocked out trying to save her mother, who died of asphyxiation after attempted rape. Soichiro came in to save them but after witnessing his wife lifeless, charged after the robber and got into a fistfight with him only to be stabbed by the same robber. Seiji saw his father’s gun and although still groggy by the impact at the back of his head, reaches for it and shoots at the robber, missing on his first two shots. The drunk robber approached Seiji and taunted him thinking he was a kid who does not have the balls to pull the trigger. Seiji shoots the robber, killing him and was traumatized by the scene after his vision cleared up.
After said events, he stayed with his uncle who was a mechanic until he graduated from high school, moved to Tokyo and took up vocational studies on journalism where he got into JTKed later in time. His uncle gave him his garage demo car – a Lancer Evolution VII as a graduation gift which he deems that Seiji could be the only one qualified to “complete” it. Not long before he received his car, Seiji was visiting a girl he liked named Aya. Seiji and Aya were okay for some time, around 2 years or so prior to his graduation from vocational studies until one day, for no reason, Aya decided to break off all contact with Seij, “disposing” him in a sense. The last known interaction between them is sometime around the second week of February; afterwards Aya disappeared from Seiji without a trace. Despite Seiji’s attempts to get a reason for the disappearance, it just drove him mad and completely obsessed in getting an answer from her. After being consolidated by his peers, Seiji comes to the conclusion that he was used by her and felt the same berserk feeling like when he was taunted to murder during his younger years. Although Seiji hated her guts and how he was treated like trash after their intimate moments, he still cared for her – visiting her while she was asleep though looking as if she never met Seiji at all to begin with. To express his sense of betrayal for Aya’s actions, he said that he will “dispose of her” the same way she did to him. Since then, they did not have contact at all.
Seiji used that LanEvo he got from his uncle to participate on nightly Wangan Runs and circuit meets where his name was recognized; mostly out on the highways, to forget everything that happened to him with Aya, evidently it worked as he gets more engrossed into racing – winning every race he participated both in the professional league and on the highway. On that point is where he met Daiki Akiyama, after garnering 40+ victories in his lifetime from Wangan duels, then lost to him. Pride overwhelming Seiji, he declares Daiki to be his rival to beat. Seiji was soon obsessed in beating Daiki, training nightly, modifying his car in the process. With the whole fiasco of multiple racers literally dying by the hands of Daiki Akiyama (possessed by Silverblood), Seiji laid low and was able to cool down about his little feud with Daiki and after seeing him suffer from the possession, and giving due condolences to the death of Daiki’s fiancée Claudia, Seiji had grown to respect Daiki (Probable reason of them losing someone dear to their lives – i.e. family / lover). Seiji soon swore to Daiki that he will be the one person to defeat him on proper grounds once he returns from his professional venture.

Trivia:
• Seiji’s gun only had 1 full magazine of bullets. He never planned nor bothered to buy reserves and uses his gun as a threat rather than an actual [murder] weapon. He did use it up when he saved Aya one last time before “threatening” her that he will “dispose” her.
• Evident with his car, hair, and clothing, his favorite color is red.
• Because of his continuous victory streak before meeting Daiki, Seiji has quite a huge fanbase
• The power output of his Lancer is slightly higher than Daiki’s Z and changes according to Daiki’s Z’s growth.
• The death of Seiji’s parents is almost, but not entirely, similar to how Mikasa Ackerman of Attack on Titan lost hers.
• Seiji is diagnosed with a Borderline Personality Disorder from the moment Aya ‘threw him aside’ and how the ‘dispose’ threat that Seiji noted to her is on a certain degree of Yandere-ness. The same disorder is evident with how he dealt with Akiyama – hoping and longing that he is the only one capable of beating him.
• His Lancer Evolution was originally an Evolution 7 with all of the body parts switched for an Evolution VIII. The engine was the same, only the new features of the VIII and the IX were inculcated later. It was not noted though if he got access to engine swaps of the same 4G engine.
• He was nicknamed by Yuri Takagi as Fujin, the god of Wind, given that he races against Jintei who was nicknamed Raijin, the god of Thunder. This allusion was to the fact that Jintei’s racing aura is shaded in blue with blue thunder or lightning around it and that Seiji is aura-less given you can’t see wind/air.
• The nickname of his LanEvo was the FQ-600; referenced to the European Light tuned market version of the Lancer Evolution FQ-400; but with x 1.5 of the final power output; though the true top power attained by his Evo is around 740 horsepower.


 



Jun Namiyama – Male, 27, Club Host & TRD Test Driver, Toyota Supra JZA80 driver


Jun Namiyama is affiliated with Daiki Akiyama and Team Japan for a short time; showing the ropes to the new members on how Daiki deals with his colleagues. Once the group settled in, Jun bid his farewell and returned to his casual life at Tokyo as a host club representative at nights and casually as a test driver for TRD and other big tuning companies. He’s a serious-looking fellow with a warm personality. He’s albeit quite sarcastic with his words oftentimes just to get his point across, especially if it involves a serious discussion with him and the person he’s talking to. An avid Toyota Supra fanatic – he drives both a JZA80 Supra RZ and a JZA70 Supra Group A Twin Turbo.


Bio/ Lifestory:


Jun was initially recruited into Kitami Kitamaru’s roster when he first instigated “Noyzee Tribe” – an ambitious team made up of skilled touge racers around the Kantou area comprising of Tomo Kitsumoro and his R34, Kyosuke Katsumaru and his multiple lightweight vehicles, and Kitami Kitamaru – ½ of the rotary aces of Saitama. It turns out that Jun Namiyama got involved with Daiki Akiyama before and is surprised to see a previous colleague again. On their first international trip to Italy, Jun accompanied Team Japan to show the team how Daiki deals with the professional form of racing and what are his initial expectations are. When the team duly acknowledged the ways how Daiki deals with everyone, Jun freely left the team, leaving them in their own care. Heading back, Jun continues his life as a host club representative on one of the Ropponggi clubs. Before and after shifts, he traverses the Wangan on his Toyota Supra.

*spoiler for season 2* Jun loves to play the Devil’s advocate to “help” out those who are on the deep end of certain situations. He has this belief that “in order to save someone, you’d have to put him in a pinch / push them to the deep end”. He went as far as max modifying Tsubasa’s AE86 who’s yearning for more power, to teach him that too much power is deadly.

Trivia:
• He has/had an artificial eye, originally covered by an eye patch with the Nazi logo from World War II
• Though not stated, Jun is a light smoker; reasons being in Ropponggi, you’re cool if you smoke. It must also be an influence by his work.
• His bio has some resemblance with Kei Aizawa of Wangan Midnight – both drive Supras and both work at Host clubs.
• His tactic of teaching Tsubasa Aramaki by giving him what he wants, even if it is dangerous, is a similar strategy used by the tuners of Wangan Midnight during Kei Aizawa’s arc.




Ryo Haraguchi  Male, 29, Marketing Manager, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V driver
(Adrenaline – Street Racing special character cameo)

Nicknamed “Tokyo Fury” by most around the Aqualine, Ryo has a long standing record being one of the best Evo drivers of Kanagawa. Once in his time, he was part of a team that he and Seiji belong to, a team specializing in Lancer Evolutions. Ryo and Seiji go way back, helping each other out and vice versa in honing their skills until near-perfection. Ryo’s as timid as Seiji and kind of like an introvert but he is more outgoing than Seiji when the time calls for it. There are a lot of similarities between Seiji and Ryo.

Bio / Lifestory:


Ryo Haraguchi works as a marketing manager for a middle-sized business firm for a living who passionately races during the nights after work to relieve himself off daily stress. He seems to prefer highway racing over mountain racing, given his car is designed for the mountains, for practical purposes, his work being one. On gatherings, be it with his workmates or his race mates, he loves to have a sake showdown and he seems to be able to hold his alcohol very well. 

Currently, Ryo’s dictated to help expand his company’s business by heading over to the US to analyze the market and to put up their first multinational branch. Seeing it not just as a opportunity to expand his horizons on both secular and his racing career, Ryo gets ready to traverse towards North American Territory – but not after being sought assistance by his old teammate, Seiji Tsuchiya. Wise with his words, as well as with his driving, Ryo assured him that he needed something simple to get back up on his feet. After fulfilling his request of counseling and his request of a duel fulfilled, Ryo felt content and leaves Tokyo with a smile, leaving anything about the Shutokou on Seiji’s hands.

• His theme song is “Tengoku” – sung by KanaraKante & Kosiji
• His Lancer Evo V’s livery is inspired by the Evo III / Evo IV WRC rally livery
• Ryo & Seiji’s team up is a tribute to Tokyo Xtreme Racer Lan Evo teams No Loser (Awesome Osaka / Naniwa Warship) and Top Level (Tarmac Suzuki)




Raymond Yamazaki – Male 28, Owner of Speed Addiction Garage, R35 GT-R Nismo / Corvette ZR1 C6 driver

Nicknamed as “the Lightning Angel” of the Wangan, Raymond Yamazaki is a wealthy tuner who invested on high end sports cars and fine tunes them for whichever purpose requested. Although Raymond is kind-hearted, he is oftentimes prideful, especially about his work and GT-Rs. He is mostly seen hanging out with Kazuhiko Aizawa; he originally had a feud to settle with Daiki Akiyama, but he chose to let go of that and leave his score to settle through Seiji. On another note, he’s too much of a flirt and most often than not, gets shut down rather easily – ending up acting like a 5 year old before and after getting shut down.

Bio / Lifestory:

Raymond was quite an affluent individual who was half American and half Japanese; the latter coming from the mother’s side of the family. He originally had a mentality that foreign sports cars like Porsches and Ferraris are “invincible on their own”; it was when he just got his license and he lost to a hard-tuned R32. He was trained hard by his father to appreciate the beauty of export machines (mostly European ones despite being of American heritage) but to also appreciate the domestics. In time, he learned to appreciate how the local machines work and in turn, though exotics played a huge culture in the Japanese motorsport scene, got ‘converted’ in to main Japanese cars – the R34 being inspired by his fiancée. Through the aid of his father, his fiancée, and his father’s staff; he learned the ways of the locals, completely appreciated the local culture and worked his way on not just inheriting the business but also on his reputation as a street racer. Even before he met Akiyama, Kazuhiko Aizawa was deemed to be his long time rival, ever since his first encounter with him on his white Ferrari 550 Maranello against Kazuhiko’s modified RX-7 FD.

Upon encountering Akiyama, his name is already quite established – both as a tuner inheriting his father’s business, and as a street racer already coming in with his famed white trademark. Raymond, on first encounter, was close to beating Daiki with his high powered R34 but because he has some sort of tuning restrictions, in order to last longer on the Wangan, he expanded his sixth gear for drafting, a skill he just planned on mastering, which also led to him losing to Daiki’s Z. He later became part of what was called the anti-silverblood task force, being deemed as a skilled driver who could last against “silverblood”, he with a couple of others are the only ones qualifiable to keep the Wangan safe from other reckless drivers and from the rumoured curse.

After the events of Mugen, Raymond’s business kept on growing and his preferences kept on expanding; getting hold of the blueprints of the Nissan GT-R NISMO, he gets to work on it converting it to an FIA trim with the retained Nismo internals. He made arrangements to have both Seiji and another haffie to work for him for his LanEvo promotional period to both understand Lancer Evolutions, up his sales, and to help Seiji out who was in a bind with regards to both his personal problems and the problems he’s encountering / experiencing throughout the story.

Trivia:
• Raymond Yamazaki’s failed flirt attempts is parallel to Kitami Kitamaru of Team Japan.
• The pun of his name the Lightning Angel was based off him driving a white car and in reference to his blonde hair – all his cars are white.
• He likes to mess around with Kazuhiko Aizawa
• His “destined” rivalry with Kazuhiko was parallel to the GT-R VS RX7 feud by the auto community
• Raymond Yamazaki was created by a WME member aliased as Paladinoras
• Next to Takumi Takashi, he’s the only Half-Japanese hailing from America.
• Ever since his conversion of beliefs about sports cars, he mained GT-Rs for most of his life, having 2 as his garage’s flagship car
• His more dominant gene or Nationality is being American.
• Ironically, at the start of his career; although priding himself as an American, he’s more inclined to European Exotics when he started.
• His 2 main cars for Fujin – the R35 GT-R base and the Corvette ZR-1 are allusions to his nationality
• Midnight Cinderella treats him with much sarcasm on non-serious conversations




Kazuhiko Aizawa – Male, 30, Journalist at Japan Tuning Tokyo Edition, Mazda RX-7 FD3S Bathurst R driver

Kazuhiko is a well vexed journalist of JTTed, a car magazine situated and distributing around Tokyo locally. He gets into a lot of contracts and opportunity deals with various tuners, drivers, etc to help expand their popularity by covering stories and articles about their achievements. Outside work, he is also a popular RX7 driver of the Wangan, able to utilize the FD on high speed stages, able to keep up with a heavily tuned Ferrari with ease, being one of his achievements, something only cars like the GT-R could only accomplish. He’s mostly seen with either Seiji, his company colleague and friend, or with Raymond Yamazaki.

Bio / Lifestory:

Kazuhiko’s life is quite common although tiresome according to him – going to each and every event he could find just to get a good scoop. He once got the MVJ award on the JT corporate meetings for his eagerness in getting good stories across and how he was on a certain event every time. Kazuhiko in his past time does a lot of researching work that he was able to utilize for both his own car and for his job. Strangely enough, he was never once seen with a book or tons of books around. When he’s not covering a story, he is out challenging people of the same level at high speed stages of the Wangan – daring them to race him at the Wangan where people mostly know how inferior the FD is there and were corrected by that mind set. Kazuhiko was always calm and he was never once found nor felt in a position where he was in a bind. 
When he met Seiji and figuring out he was his colleague and a fellow Hashirya, the two started hanging out a lot. Seiji considered Kazuhiko sort of as his right hand man and a person he could trust his life on. Kazuhiko has that tendency to be quite passive about things, regardless of the situation, and most often than not cares less for it, unless it involves Seiji – showing signs of deep friendship between the two. He was also the reason behind Seiji’s success – being someone who gathers a scoop or information on a technical aspect, he was able to stay neutral to the matter and gathered info about each and every rival Seiji once faced and helped him make an action plan for each – later in time when Seiji decided to form some sort of little group along with Keiichi Iwata, he was nicknamed as the tactical adviser of the team leaving Keiichi with the mechanical work and with Seiji on the aspect of driving, leaving him assigned with exploiting weaknesses during a battle.

Trivia:
• He is oftentimes seen with Raymond most of the time as a running gag.
• He’s the only guy in the group who wears glasses, among the men.
• The team comprising of Seiji, Kazuhiko and Keiichi, named “blue crimson” was a mix inspired by the Red Lancer Evolution and the blue Honda DC5 Integra as seen by the creator back in Highschool at Colegio San Agustin Makati
• It was destined that Kazuhiko, based on his seiyuu back in Speed Legend V, speaks with a british aftertone despite being Japanese by blood.


MAIN EPISODE DEBUTS:

Keiichi Iwata – Male, 28, Journalist at Young Motors Magazine, Honda DC5 Integra Type R Owner

Keiichi is a fellow affiliate of both Seiji and Kazuhiko given their profession. Beyond that they share a unique and common affinity when it comes to cars – Keiichi’s a content individual and is simply looking out for Seiji and Kazuhiko. Due to his work, he rarely goes out to be with Seiji and Kazuhiko but most often than not, he can be seen driving around the Shutokou in his turbocharged DC5 Integra. He was the first to witness Tsubasa’s third revival prior to his return from Osaka around the Hanshin loop. Upon traversing back to Tokyo he reports this to Seiji – followed by assisting him alongside Naoko and Kazuhiko when Iwasaki had some theories to test out with Seiji.

Trivia:
• Keiichi and Seiji’s name combined may be a pun of the drift king himself: Keiichi Tsuchiya
• Keiichi’s DC5 Integra is synonymously similar to the turbocharged DC2 from Initial D driven by Smiley Sakai, only Keiichi’s is turbo tuned.
• Keiichi Iwata is the only FF driver of the series; second Honda driver in Fujin, next to Dream Fiend.
• His work scoops, compared to Kazuhiko and Seiji depend more on being the videographer of the report mostly contributing to audio visual articles for the car magazine community.
• Like Kochiiro, he’s more of an oil-type person but unlike Kochiiro, he is not limited to just a certain manufacturer – this was a helpful ability of his even for his work.

Tsubasa Aramaki – Male, 18, Drop-out Student & Mechanic at Black Wings, Toyota AE86 Trueno driver

Tsubasa is a young aspiring racer who works at a tuning shop and just recently got in to Wangan racing after being overly influenced by a dousjin he’s following and where he kept practicing on the mountain passes. He harbors a hatred for 4WDs and is quite obsessed with power throughout the series, hell bent on beating Seiji Tsuchiya, whom he thinks humiliated him by outwitting him on the Wangan. Due to his out-of-control lust to power up his AE86, his car becomes totally dangerous and caused a multiple number of accidents around the highway. He’s the main antagonist of the story representing the recklessness of each street racer, young and old.

Bio / Lifestory:

Hailing from Hachioji, Tsubasa mainly had his inspirations on driving from doujins that he read while he was young (Initial D primarily) and it’s what got him to save up and buy an AE86 Trueno from the junkshop which he reconditioned at his workplace – Garage Black Wings. Tsubasa, on a regular basis like at the manga that he kept following, practices on the mountain roads of Tsubaki and a region nearby the old Hakone touge district and got cocky about his victories about it ever since. He was warned by his superior that although his skills are good as a driver, his car’s tuning and maintenance begs to differ, let alone he lets his pride get the best of him. His ego started building up when he defeated a 400hp FC on the C1 loop but it was ultimately crushed when he faced off against Seiji Tsuchiya who was driving one of Raymond Yamazaki’s client cars.
*Spoilers* Distraught by the loss, Tsubasa harbors a deep hatred for 4WDs and a hatred of Seiji Tsuchiya himself as well, unaware of Seiji’s reputation. He went as far as visiting his old mentor from the province, Guro-sensei, to revamp his AE86 for wangan runs with a base hi-speed-circuit tune. Upon his return he hunts down each and every LanEvo driver around the metro and humiliated them, taunting Seiji to come out and face him. He raced Seiji, not until he blows his engine, costing him the race. Tsubasa’s hate for Seiji grew deeper as he yearns more for power to put on his car. Treated to access to a High-tuned TD06*, Tsubasa returns with a 600 hp three-quarter ton hatchback that he thinks would be more than enough to decimate the LanEvo he oh so hates. Against Takumi Takashi, another Lan Evo driver, he races both of them for Wangan Superiority only for a third time, Tsubasa’s engine gives on him just after Ooi tunnel. He snaps and starts blaming his AE86 for the loss, cursing it and denting it with his own hands. As a form of a wake up call, Midnight Cinderella snaps him back to his senses with ultimately crushing the rest of Tsubasa’s pride with her words, where he ended up crying for the third death of his hachi-roku. His AE86 was then disposed off, labeled to be a dangerous machine that no one should know of or recreate. Nothing was heard from Tsubasa ever since.

Trivia:
• The idea was not that of the creator’s but that of a contributor who went over his head with the project, turning a sub character into a main character, overshadowing the true series’ protagonist. His overall character was then revamped in favor of the protagonist.
• Tsubasa’s AE86 is based off the famed Shuichi Shigeno grade AE86 Trueno GT-APEX with the modifications in succession: basic (maximum NA tuned 235hp with Tsubasa), AE101 Racing Engine (400hp with Tsubasa), AE101 + Turbocharger kit (600hp with Tsubasa)
• The abilities that Tsubasa “converted” are based off Initial D – examples such as the [Fujiwara] Zone, and the Mizutoshi.
• Tsubasa represented the new generation drivers and race-game players (if put to an analogy between the characters and reality) who blindly seek power with no regard for their own precautions, and self absorbed by nature.
• Tsubasa originally had a sister named Shino Aramaki but the idea was scrapped because it was a gender-bended plagiarized attack on Initial D’s Takumi and Bunta.
• He had the most number of engine blows in a racing series, outclassing Harada, Kuroki (twice each) of Wangan Midnight and Takumi Fujiwara (twice also) of Initial D.
• Garage “Black Wings” was a pun from the Fujiwara Zone wings of Initial D, even the references he noted on his conversation with his mechanic, Guro-sensei.
• Tsubasa has ego and anger management issues; and due to his pride, he tends to be as insulting as Initial D’s Seiji Iwaki or Wangan Midnight’s Motoki.
• He’s an overly obsessed fanboy of Initial D
• *The Turbo installed in Tsubasa’s AE86 on the 3rd rework is a TD06; by turbine logic, higher numbers mean a larger turbine, which means more horsepower with a slower spool; although the power generated fully would vary depending on which RPM level the turbine was set to generate power from.


Takumi Takashi – Male, 28, Mechanic at Speed Addiction Garage, Mitsubishi Evolution VI driver

Takumi was a hired mechanic who hailed all the way from Surfers Paradise of Queensland, Australia hired by Raymond Yamazaki himself for his LanEvo promotion at his tuning garage. Takumi, although haughty about his achievements and praises, seems to have all that talk backed up by his skill. He forms a healthy rivalry with Seiji Tsuchiya while at the same time he adjusts and reforms his mindset about racing in Japan versus racing Down Under. Takumi self dubs himself as the “devil 6” planning to repeat the 6 three times but he scratched the idea because it was Taboo and limited it in relation to his LanEvo instead.

Bio / Lifestory:

Takumi grew up in a very secluded environment at Surfer’s paradise with a lifestyle nearly but not totally related to that of a Hikkikomori, spending most of his time with games and the like. Takumi felt quite lost with his life course until he was able to get his license and legally drive around his state – he felt a sense of freedom. But that freedom of his soon came biting him at the back as he focuses more on improving his driving and demotivating other sports car drivers when he started and learned how to tune his own car – A Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI RS. He soon participated into track meets with his car and his unorthodox way of driving – unfortunately, his ego overwhelms any form of compliments that go his way. He barely had any lasting friendships with his attitude. His ego also got in the way of his supposedly long term sponsorships and contracts, but they backfired after the event. Upon receiving Raymond Yamazaki’s offer to work at Japan for his tuning shop, he swore a reformation of his entire personality to become both a better driver and a better person.

The moment he met Seiji, his old habits never die so to speak, but unlike the rest, Seiji retaliated with his smug attitude and friction started to develop between the two. He, later on, rode with Raymond where he encountered Kazuhiko at the loop line. Raymond demanded to switch seats in order to catch up to the leading FD. Takumi swore to experience the same feeling once again by swearing to race against Seiji to understand the local culture’s way of racing more. When he’s not working on client cars, he spent his time fine tuning his Lan Evo and his skills in preparation for his race with Seiji. It was hinted that Takumi is as skilled as Seiji and nearly won against him on their 3-way with Tsubasa, but he spun out and crashed. He lived but his Evo 6 was out of commission. He later switched to an R33 LM Road car while still working with Raymond. He faces off, with Raymond, against Motoya Iwasaki when he is fully reborn. His part of the story ends when Raymond bids him farewell from Narita Airport and where the two of them share a brofist moment thanking each other for the help and experience (Raymond with the newly attained technical knowledge, and with Takumi for getting the chance to go toe-to-toe with Seiji)

Trivia:
• Takumi’s character design, personality, car choice, and racing style were based off an actual person the creator met while in his stay at Surfers Paradise, QLD Australia.
• The teal color of Takumi’s Lan Evo 6 was hinted or referenced from the Devil Z’s pale blue color from the WMMT arcade platform.
• Takumi’s Evo VI was a mix of the JUN Evo V and the Tommi Makinen Edition with the extended carbon lips.
• Next to Seiji, Takumi is a devotee to the Lan Evo series when he was initially introduced but he willingly traversed to manning other machines while his Lan Evo was still being repaired – this was a similar influence and mentality to that of Raymond Yamazaki’s backstory of not being too reserved to one kind of vehicle.
• Takumi’s favorite route on the Shutokou is Yokohane

Keisuke Mamoru – Male, 30, Royal Blood Guild Member & D1 racer, Nissan GT-R R35 Spec V driver

Little was known about Keisuke Mamoru at this point in the Fujin Series. For now, he merely set the stage for the Fujin characters during his conversation and chess game with Gonsuke Hamagaki, his former rival and client when he was a freelance car journalist. Keisuke mainly gave hints of some sort of gathering of the pieces for Tomo’s growth & awakening. 

Trivia:
• Kogure’s initial physical appearance and wardrobe was inspired by the protagonist of the year 2000 Playstation 1 game by ATLUS Games called Touge Max 2.


Gonsuke Hamagaki – Male, 32, D1 Racer, Honda S2000 4WD-conversion driver

Hamagaki used to be Keisuke’s client and Keisuke Mamoru’s former rival while the latter was still known by the pen name “Kogure Seishiro”. He helped sort things out for Keisuke, making him the D1 driver he is today, while amidst his knowledge, accomplishing his tasks as a member of Royal Blood – the forgotten Racing guild. Hamagaki was skeptical about Keisuke’s return when he promised he’ll forever be gone from Tomo’s sight and knowledge. During his chess match with Keisuke, all he did was raise some questions that piqued his interest more about Keisuke’s purpose of return.

• Hamagaki was inspired by HAMAGAKI a.k.a. Kaido President of Genki’s Kaido Battle 3 – Touge no Densetsu & Kaido Battle 2 – Chain reaction.
 

 

Midnight Cinderella – Female, 29, Translator, Mazda RX-8 (Veilside V1 M.C. custom) driver

 

Midnight Cinderella, true name unknown, was once a legendary street racer who was part of “Eternal Seven” – the fastest racing team in the metro 10 years ago comprised of Tokyo’s fastest & most influential drivers. After the defection of the members, the 13 Devils and the 12 Zodiacs were born; Midnight Cinderella chose to stay as a “wanderer” and witnessed the changes take place. She returned as herself, not as a member of Eternal Seven, with the feeling of melancholy and acknowledging & guiding the presence of a person who was called out to restore Tokyo’s power-obsessed, speed-drugged community to its more respectful and appreciative state. When not engaged on her main reason for returning to street racing, she is the mentor of Yuri Takagi, a young geisha working as a university student from Nagoya. Her trademark was due to her only appearing / racing exactly or past midnight.

 

Bio / Lifestory:

 

Midnight Cinderella was known around the metro to be a member of Eternal Seven who always appears beyond or exactly on Midnight; due to her strenuous work, she justifies that it is the only time she could unwind before ending the day. Her trademark is not only the time she appears to race but also on how she was able to manipulate an automatic transmission to run like a Manual and how she was able to beat multiple racers with the same strategy. She originally started out with a yellow and black carbon hooded RX-7 FD3S and encountered Dream Fiend and Death Driver in the process. Worthy of their attention, she was reeled in to their little group and was soon recruited as part of the Four Devas. 

By the time Speed King and Purple Meteor make an appearance, 3 of the Four Devas got recruited to Eternal Seven for a time and were deemed the fastest amongst Tokyo, and the most admired and respected among the bunch. Things were okay for a time until new teams and groups started appearing, which quite overwhelmed the community exponentially – it was out of control; not to mention the mentality of most of these racers are carrying which is by normal standards, beyond dangerous. ZERO, Midnight Cinderella and Death Driver defected from Eternal Seven while the remaining four members were crossed with what to do of the uprising – hence the formation of the 13 Devils and the 12 Zodiacs. Among those who defected, Midnight Cinderella left it to chance hoping that their little conflict and their solutions would resolve things. Unfortunately, it didn’t though it didn’t last long thanks to the interference of a lone racer who took down both the Devils and the Zodiacs in a silver 350Z, being followed suit by a Silver Evolution 8. 

Moving on with her life admitting that the Eternal 7 are forever extinct, driving was one thing Midnight Cinderella never forgotten. She continues to run and reached a level of perfection in her driving; to keep her racing spirit alive, she took charge of a young protégé upon her visit at Nagoya – seeing potential in her, she took Yuri Takagi on her wing. She thought to herself that one day, the Wangan Community would be as it was before and that the one way to make sure it happens in the new generation, is to teach it to them for them to appreciate it. Upon hearing of Motoya Iwasaki’s return, she personally and regularly visited her old partner of the Eternals, helping him out in the process and hoping that their returned influence would help reform the already corrupted community of selfish, power-drugged street racers.

• Midnight Cinderella’s Occupation, demeanor, and most of her backstory was taken / directly referenced from her bio data from most, if not all, Shutokou Battle series made by Genki.

• Her direct affiliations and interactions with Motoya Iwasaki was referenced from Import Tuner Challenge and the fact that she was a boss character related to Iwasaki’s “return”.

• Coincidental references to Midnight Cinderella’s physical appearance were based off GTO’s Urumi Kanzaki, with the most noteworthy features are her pale skin, blue eyes, outfit, and light yellow hair.

• She is one of the most soft spoken but tactful speakers among the cast and was never seen pissed off during a character interaction with the exemption of that one time against Tsubasa at Episode 16 *spoilers*

• She is Yuri Takagi’s shipping subject – most of the time being shipped or partnered unwillingly to the main cast for yuri-comic relief.

• She has distaste for Raymond Yamazaki and his flirty, aloof character.

• As stated above, she’s the only character who drives an automatic transmission

• She is one of the most philosophical characters of this story arc

 

 

Motoya Iwasaki – Make 45, UNKNOWN Profession, Subaru Impreza GDB-F driver, switched to BNR34 later

 

Motoya Iwasaki, commonly known by his racing alias “Jintei” or “Speed King”, is one of the main characters of the story, serving as an Anti-Hero to Seiji. He is a legendary Shutokou racer who has returned due to him being figuratively “called out” to race again – speculations were that he only returned to either settle some unfinished business or simply retake his crown back from the “Wangan God” given it has resurfaced once more. He appears initially with his GDB-F Wangan tuned Impreza but after some thought, has decided to take back his old R34 which he left in ‘storage’.

 

Bio / Lifestory:

 

Iwasaki was the founder of Eternal Seven before the existence of the 13 Devils and the 12 Zodiacs came into play. Inspired well by the JGTC late in his career, he decides to make that his primary focus and miraculously, was a natural about it. He got into a lot of contracts by sponsors and was accomplished with great swiftness, all under the supervision of Naoki Fujimaki, his mentor.

He soon traversed over to the Shutokou Expressways as his main speed indulgence after being enticed by Fuji Speedway’s long straightway. From there, also with Fujimaki’s help, he learned to control himself and his car on the high speed stage. Iwasaki made his way up the ranks; all the current teams noticed his growth, movement, and progress. He was unstoppable. Iwasaki became quite influential and from that point, they legalized their influence by forming an elite team called “Eternal Seven” with Iwasaki as the head of the group, and his mentor as second-in-command. He soon recruited other highly skilled racers into the team who carried similar influence around the metro just like him. They were adored, known, and respected by everyone; no known conflicts arose not until the new generation racing teams appeared and changed the morality and mentality of majority of the community. As days pass, it exponentially grew day after day. The negative influence was overwhelming, it was getting into Iwasaki and the rest; half of them self disbarred themselves before the influence could overwhelm them but the remaining 4 had a change of heart although keeping their morality, thought of ways to calm the storm – Regional ownership or full territoriality. Iwasaki proposed the latter alongside Dream Fiend and formed the 13 Devils.

Purple Meteor (Fujimaki) formed the 12 Zodiacs with White Charisma and went for the earlier approach but both groups were outclassed by the likes of a single Silver Z and a Silver Evolution 8. Although both teams were taken out, Iwasaki’s influence was still strong, despite the dissolution of the formed elite groups. At one instance, Iwasaki was in a race against one of White Charisma’s former team members, mainly Cornering Artist of Rotary Revolution, and got into an accident with him in the process. Although Iwasaki’s heart was on the right place – colliding with the FD to stabilize its movement from the crash, the rest of R.R. accused him of murder with the conjecture that he is saving his own hind on that one race after losing everything he once had. This also led to R.R.’s disbarment and with Iwasaki disappearing from the Wangan scene. The impact of the accident also led Iwasaki to refute his own BNR34 and surrendered it to Fujimaki, vowing he’s no longer gonna get it back. From that point on, he switched to a Subaru GDB-F recreating his livery. Years passed to Seiji’s time, he takes up his nickname “Jintei” once more and runs the Wangan only to be confronted by his past allies – Watari Kan a.k.a. White Charisma, and Tatsuya Shima, who was revered to as ZERO. Shima noted to Iwasaki that like a Samurai, the car mirrors his owner and kept stating that the true “Speed King” was in and always be in a BNR34. Watari on the other hand states that his half-assed performance in a half-assed car would not justify his brother’s death.

Shocked by the resolution that he cannot escape his past nor lie about his recognition with an unfit machine, Iwasaki set out to earn back his R34 from Fujimaki. With Midnight Cinderella’s help, Iwasaki seeks out his own mentor and earns his way into getting his car back. *Spoilers:* Iwasaki acknowledges that his own R was imbalanced from the very beginning, after having that debate with Seiji on who’s correct in terms of their theories of balance. Despite looking at Seiji as his main adversary, Iwasaki went out of his way to aid Seiji as well in dealing with Tsubasa. In the end, it was a battle between theories between Iwasaki (as per his slogan of what balance is) and Seiji (Equality principle between straights and corners / Being superior equally on both fields). Iwasaki though warns Seiji of the potential return of his “twisted” comrades – the remainder of the 13 Devils and tells him to watch his back. Settling all the scores with his R ending with a detuned race trim, Iwasaki is content. His last interaction with the main 4 of Eternal Seven was visiting Cornering Artist’s grave together.

 

Trivia:

• Motoya Iwasaki’s character background, skills, vehicle, and storyline was based from the actual Motoya Iwasaki of the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series.

• *Spoilers* Motoya Iwasaki’s cars were the inverse of his Tokyo Xtreme Racer Career. Originally he ends up with the GDB-F Impreza on the final installment “Import Tuner Challenge”. The story, as a tribute to the original Jintei, had his cars in reverse order from their chronological appearance:

o Original: JGTC R34 (Zero) – C-west R34(SB 01) – Super GT R34 (C1GP) – GDB-F Impreza (ITC)

o Fujin: GDB-F Impreza – Super GT R34 – C-west R34 – JGTC R34 (R34 TC)

• Although a Buddhist based on his insignia, Iwasaki is actually a Shintoist.

• *Spoilers* He was nicknamed by Yuri as a representation of Raijin, the god of Thunder; paying homage to his blue lightning aura with Seiji being Fujin, the god of Wind.

Yuri Takagi – Female, 21, Geisha, Subaru Impreza GC8VI driver

 

 

Yuri Takagi is a young girl who’s into cars as much as the next guy who would be. She came all the way from Nagoya to Tokyo in search of the red Lancer Evolution that simply took her heart away. Before encountering that said Evo, she was given the nickname of “Snow White” in correlation to her driving style around the Nagoya Speed ring, is similar to that of a snowy blizzard. She was trained and still under training by Midnight Cinderella. During the day, she works as a geisha and Cindy-sempai (by her coined terminology) is her regular client weekly. She was known to admire Seiji but equally fangirls over the Elite Seven.

 

Bio / Lifestory:

 

Yuri was a casual racer from Nagoya who simply wants to have some fun; throughout her aim of having fun, she ended up getting serious about it and gets overly hyped around the Nagoya Speed Ring. She engaged with multiple races around the Kanjyo and won most of them with her mid tuned Subaru Impreza. From those victories and how she blazed through the corners, she was given the nickname “Snow White” – aggressive as a blizzard through corners but as calm and smooth on the straight like a princess. Everything changed when a certain red Lancer Evolution was cruising by and Yuri just so happens to be there. Feeling a strange aura coming from the LanEvo, she taunts the driver to a race, with the latter responding by accelerating. Ultimately, Yuri was outclassed by the said LanEvo. From then on, she had one thing on her mind – to find out who was that LanEvo driver… … … … and make him her husbando.

Right after those events, she encounters Midnight Cinderella who also gave her a run for her money. Yuri tried her best to keep up but how the RX8 moves around is reminiscent of the LanEvo she once lost to. Thinking it was another guy, he went and changed her plans and chased after the RX8 driver instead; only to realize that it was a tall, beautiful, slender girl by the alias of “Midnight Cinderella”. They became friends from then on out. Yuri then asked help from Cindy-sempai to make her a better driver. She ended up riding multiple times with Midnight Cinderella, learning and understanding the way she drives, inculcating it on her own driving. As for Cindy-sempai, she became Yuri’s regular visitor by the time she found out that Yuri was a geisha.

She got settled in at Tokyo after moving in with Cindy-sempai and encountered Seiji once again. She got his name from her mentor and was keeping a close eye out for him ever since. She had her moments of meeting Seiji face to face while with Midnight Cinderella, but more often than not, she ends up fangirling than actually conversing with Seiji. Yuri helped Seiji out more throughout the story being Seiji’s eyes and ears while Seiji is not around Tokyo, honing her skills in the process. She even got the privilege to drive Motoya Iwasaki around the Metro while on their search for Seiji. Due to her nature of work, and her knowledge with Japanese folklore, she ended up giving nicknames to both Seiji and Motoya – dubbing them as Fujin and Raijin respectively. She continues to visit, talk, race with, and hang out with Seiji more as the story deepens although whether or not Yuri was in love with Seiji, she still can’t get her words out to him; she feels quite content though being around him and Midnight Cinderella and swears to improve to show them how far she has excelled, hoping to par to their performance.

• Yuri has a habit of shipping Midnight Cinderella with Seiji and with Iwasaki; thinking that the earlier were lovers while Cindy and the latter are being like girl-mate to sugar-daddy.

• Character design, personality, concept, and car choice was made by a female WMMT player with the alias YuriTakagi

• Yuri’s nickname was a pun and front in reference to “Midnight Cinderella” where the inspiration came from, hence “Snow White” – referring to both the Disney princess, and the fact that her car is white in color.

• Although she mained a Subaru Impreza, she is a big fan of Rotary Engine cars.

• She has a huge crush on Seiji and was always caught swooning over him on casual moments.

• She has the lowest height among the cast.

• *spoiler* It was hinted she loved to crossdress during conventions or when spying at Seiji when he was alone with Naoko Takahashi.

• She learned to play the Shamisen reasoning out that she needs to learn it for work.

• Her theme song while she’s working as a geisha is the “Tachibana Dynasty” from Trauma Team OST album.

• How her car was built, from the outside, shares a resemblance to the silver GC8 IV of Makoto Morishita of Wangan Midnight.

 

Hazama Sieg – Male, 22, Tourist / Unemployed, Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec II “Hazama” owner

 

 

Hazama is an Australian-born-Japanese where he wanted a new leash of life after having a sense of emptiness in him; he moved to Tokyo, tagged as a tourist, hoping to find that new life he’d actually want where he could get out of his procrastinateful state. Hazama is a bit self-secluded and what the public may deem as delusional but is kind hearted to people whom he owe gratitude to. His ‘delusional’ attitude stems from his past where he was discouraged and thought of as an underachiever which pierced through Hazama’s personality. Hoping for a reformation, he gets trained by Seiji Tsuchiya in becoming a better driver and a better person. He literally nicknamed his car after himself.

 

Bio / Lifestory:

 

Hazama was first seen arriving to Narita Airport swearing that his new life begins at Tokyo. Funded by his folks back at Australia (NSW), Hazama settles in followed by overhearing rumours of a person whom he thinks would reform his life – Seiji Tsuchiya, unaware he was a LanEvo driver, the car that Hazama detests due to bandwagons whoring it. While on his stay, from the shadows, he continues to have increased respects from Seiji after he overheard testimonies from others about it. He has a strong hatred for those who put him and Seiji down however and would go overboard to protect their name. Because of this, Hazama ends up mostly in trouble and he is mostly trying to defend the name of people he admired, other than himself, from the wrong crowd. He had this complex of bringing up the past of his as a form of a scapegoat or a threat to those who oppose him – whether or not this is true is beyond public knowledge. Like Takumi, he oftentimes gets way too ahead of himself especially if he’s praised once or constantly for something. 

Hazama once defended Seiji’s name from a couple of affluent kids who own LanEvos and ended up getting bruised and battered by them, giving him the same taunt / threat back at him. Hazama was a fighter though and to prove his point, raced those Evo drivers until he was nearly taken out of commission down the highway. Seiji, who was passed by them, saved Hazama but was provoked by the latter over the mere fact he owns a Lancer. Hazama believed that Seiji was no different because of the car he owns. Seiji corrected his mindset and their friendship started from there. Hazama was given chances to improve on his personality and his driving but unbeknownst to Seiji, some old habits never die. Hazama occasionally gets into skirmishes with some of the cast and initially holding his lead before the rival actually drives and outclasses his R34. What is guaranteed about Hazama is that he’s a newly loyal supporter of Seiji’s and is a growing and aspiring driver in his own right. Seiji regularly receives updates from Hazama in this regard, noting to Seiji that he’s growing and not ignoring his words – improving in both as a person and as a driver / highway racer.

 

Trivia:

• Hazama’s character name, design, and personality is duly based off one of the Supido no Densetsu content creators and contributors; similar case to that of Ryo Haraguchi and Yuri Takagi.

• Hazama Sieg was referenced from the character made by the creator of RO4D. 

• Hazama looks up to Seiji as his upperclassman but he never called him his actual upperclassman / sempai before.

• Hazama is parallel to Yuri noting the fact that both of them have their respective tutors / upperclassmen and both drive 4WDs.

• Hazama is a big spender but has some tendencies to delay payments as agreed, as shown with Raymond.

 

 

Stanley Lee - Male, 33, Supervisory Chef, Married, Subaru Impreza GDB-C Type A driver

 

Stanley was a good friend to Seiji, who’s a patron to his workplace. Seiji looks up to Stanley as some sort of father figure and he’s Seiji’s main source of comfort whenever he feels that he is in a pool of confusion. Stanley is happily married and shares his experiences with Seiji which would deem useful to the latter’s current dilemma. Although he owns a tuned STi Impreza, he only uses it for family travels and doesn’t actually race. He works as the supervisor of a teppanyaki restaurant.

 

Trivia:

• The restaurant Stanley’s working at is referenced to Australia’s Kamikaze Teppanyaki chain of restaurants, one of them situated at Surfers Paradise, QLD.

• The full name and character background, minus his relations to the protagonist, is a direct duplicate of the person who actually worked at Kamikaze and owned a Subaru Impreza.

 

 

 

Aya – Female, 28, Waitress / Cashier / Receptionist [of a Teppanyaki Restaurant]

 

Aya is one of Stanley’s employees and was quite close to Seiji. She hinted hidden feelings stemming from Seiji’s kindness and although passive about it, has some feelings for him. They shared intimate moments together thinking that for both of them, everything was okay when they’re together. All of a sudden for unknown reasons, there was a drastic change in Aya’s personality, instantly cutting off all contact with Seiji which left him distraught. After breaking up all contact with Seiji for a period of time, she suddenly calls him begging for his help to save her from being kidnapped. Although Seiji accepted the call and indeed saved her, Seiji made note that the next time they meet, he will pay her back the same way she last treated Seiji – to be disposed. 

 

Trivia:

• Aya was the second cause of Seiji’s Borderline Personality Disorder

• Aya’s character information and backstory is based on two girls whom the creator was mutually interacting with; unfortunately ending up with either a no-connection-break up or left hanging without closure.

• Aya texting Seiji about her last interaction with him prior to the rescue was a true to life case (only the earlier half of the statement) and relates to one of the 2 girls the creator was involved with. It goes to show that despite her methods, “Aya” still wishes the best for him despite deciding not to be involved or connected to him after that one moment.

• The chibi-shaped keychain hanging from Seiji’s phone was a present from Aya while they were still together.

• Aya’s relationship with Seiji was not labeled as an official BF-GF relationship given neither party, although showing intimacy and care for one another, didn’t declare their partnership to be official.

 

 

 

 

Sakura Johina – Female, 23, Medical Practitioner / Doctor / Surgeon, Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R driver

 

Sakura was once a member of team Japan of the IGTL but defected after experiencing her first [unofficial] defeat outside the team when she just got back into racing after a hiatus. Content with things with team Japan, she went back from Hawaii to Tokyo to further on with her career as a medical practitioner. Sakura is working at Tokyotosaiseikai Central Hospital (at Shiba-Koen) near Tokyo Tower as an internist and a surgeon and is performing well on that regard. She is still keeping tabs with Tomo and Kasumi, who are still at Hawaii, finishing up whichever dealings they have with the locals. She’s friends with her colleague, Tatsuya Shima who’s another surgeon at the same hospital.

 

Bio / Lifestory:

 

Sakura participated as a driver of team Japan – using her GT-R34, posing as a secondary GT-R specialist (the other one being Tomo). She was trained by Takeshi Musashiro in the arts of both circuit and touge driving; with the help of the Musashiro’s wealth, she practiced on a replicated tune of the MCR R34 mixed with TommyKaira’s tuning. Sakura has the same religious faith as that of Tomo, but like him, is quite passive about it though it gave her like some sort of protection on it. Sakura was a beautiful, intelligent, and famed perfectionist who excels at almost anything she does – avid in both sports and studies; she was an accelerated student when she was young, ‘til this day.

Racing may not be her forte but because of her personality, she excelled at it far better than those passionate about it. Sakura was fine with losing to someone she knows, primarily Tomo; and has never experienced defeat at the hands of someone she doesn’t know. Whether or not Sakura has hinted feelings for Tomo; who had feelings for her, is not revealed (though their relationship is more sisterly though intimate, rather than romantic; even if she had some small feuds with Kasumi over his feelings).

Sakura doesn’t seem to take defeats quite lightly; especially if it is against an unknown enemy, although she won’t mind losing if it was against Tomo. She experienced her first official loss when she chased a Ferrari 575 Maranello down the Northwest coast of Oahu Island and felt broken ever since. On that one instance is where she was stubborn enough to deny the defeat justifying it against Tetsuya who claims her defeat was “no big deal”, thinking that loss would greatly affect her and her progress with Team Japan. Despite Tomo’s reassuring words following that event, Sakura’s hell bent on quitting team Japan and ending her career as a professional racer. She would rather be a passive racer than an active one, and it was shown when she went back to Tokyo and kept how her GT-R looked like. 

She was never seen actually racing ever since she got back and is mostly seen alongside Tatsuya Shima on two episodes involving work and outside work. She witnessed Tatsuya race as Blackbird / ZERO again while they chased a Wangan Tuned Impreza while on a garage demo car Sakura was lent while her actual car is being detuned, by her request, through the said tuning shop. No further hints were noted if she would return as a racer nor if that detuned was officially reverting the R back to stock but there are speculations that Sakura still races; whether at the Wangan or at the mountainpass, like how she originally started as.

 

Trivia:

• Sakura’s original R34 was tuned similarly to that of the Tommykaira R R34 99’ (used on the Manga); but due to recreating restrictions with the simulators, her R was converted to the MCR R34 (Nismo aero).

• Sakura may be considered as Tomo’s gender-bended counterpart in terms of driving ability.

• Sakura’s second debut in the Viaggio Grande series makes her one of the more popular characters in the series

• Sakura’s GT-R is a 1999 model, opposed to Tomo’s 2000-2001 model; though both are V-spec Variants (Tomo’s being V-spec II)

 

 

Tatsuya Shima – Male, 35, Surgeon / Doctor , Porsche 911 (964) RS-R “Blackbird” Turbo driver 

 

Tatsuya Shima has been a forerunner on the Wangan scene; he’s mostly referred to as “Blackbird” or the “Wangan Black Emperor” and was an undefeated prodigy of the Wangan community. Shima was known to have been always racing with a midnight blue S30Z but ever since the disappearance of that Z, Shima kept quiet and didn’t race like he used to. He occasionally still races but, like Midnight Cinderella, at hours that most racers wouldn’t normally race at. During the day, he’s normally a doctor or a surgeon at Tokyotosaisekai Central Hospital (at Shiba Koen) and a fellow workmate to Sakura Johina. He originally scrapped his 911 due to that issue he had when he faced the S30 and a race spec RX7 FC and settled with a different 964 Turbo.

 

Bio / Lifestory:

 

Tatsuya was a doctor of an affluent hospital at Japan and is known as a miraculous surgeon; ironically, he is also a street racer during the night who relentlessly takes on inhuman speeds as he drives down the Wangan. Both his skill during the day and during the night are equally fast. His nickname stemmed up from the famous SR-71 Aircraft while he was studying medicine at college; he soon adapted it to his 911 which was coated in a semi gloss black finish. Shima originally was affiliated with a street racer by the name Akio Asakura, who was driving an MA70 Supra Mk II. When his friend switched over to the S30, they both became iconic on their own right until one day… Asakura crashed his Z while racing with Shima and died. Years later, another person bearing the same name appears with the same Z, driving Shima to the brink of obsession in either defeating the Z that took his best friend’s life or be chosen to drive the Z. In the end, Shima left the Z alone knowing it’s growing further and further from him and its new order; but deep down, Shima still yearned for the Z. After he scrapped his car, after a year’s worth of hiatus, he returns with a different 964 Porsche, though not as formidable as his last one but strong nonetheless.

The rumored death or disappearance of the reborn Z with its new order did not phase Shima one bit since he was able to move on with his past; he was then taken in by Iwasaki to be part of Eternal Seven. From then on, he discarded his nickname “Blackbird” temporarily, and took up the name “ZERO” – representing whether a fresh, clean slate, or his presence being like the numeric value that is “0”, the meaning behind the name is unknown. When the time came for the uprising of the new generation of drivers reforming the mindsets of the teams and the entire community, Shima felt it was time for him to dissipate, give his presence of no value (another notable hint to his new B.A.D. name) and drove independently, like that with Death Driver and Midnight Cinderella. 

After hours, he was seen with Sakura taking cruises around the metro; the most recent one was in a demo car Sakura borrowed. Shima felt a familiar presence with the GDB-F Impreza that passed by him and Shima was taken in to race it. Identifying it was Iwasaki, posing as his former self in a far-inferior car, Shima duly noted that “Blackbird is dead” because “Jintei is dead” – stating he did NOT race Jintei, but someone he knew in a heavily done up Impreza. On one aspect, Shima looked unchanged from the times he was an independent driver alongside that Z nor when he was active as ZERO among Eternal Seven. He is often caught in a serious debate or conversation with Iwasaki himself, with Shima having to mockingly lead Iwasaki back to the right path. This in turn had them on a complete Stalemate – Shima winning two of his races against Jintei in the Impreza (before the character reformation) and Shima losing two of his races against Jintei who is en route to gaining his R back. After Iwasaki’s “rebirth” Shima continued to trod the Wangan how he normally would during and after Eternal Seven’s formation. 

 

Trivia:

• Tatsuya Shima of Fujin is a direct copy of Wangan Midnight’s Tatsuya Shima

• He will be seen in more wardrobe outfits other than just his turtle neck

• His new Porsche is another 964 Chassis with the spec II visual tuning a.k.a. the RS-R spec, the same one featured on his race against Koichi Hiramoto

• His nickname was a reference to ZERO of TXR Zero who also mains a Porsche 911; which was based off the same Shima from Wangan midnight.

• Disclaimer: The death of the new Akio Asakura is not canon to the WM story.

• There was a “bad” pun on ZERO’s name being – You know why they call me Zero? Is it because that’s how many times you won?”

• Among the cameo cast, he’s one of the fastest racers, par and equal to Jintei.

• As stated above, his old nickname “blackbird” was based off the SR-71 Reconaissance plane.

• Brewed coffee seems to be his favorite drink

 

 

 

Guro-sensei – Male, 50s, Mechanic / Garage Shop Owner

 

 

Guro-sensei, as how Tsubasa calls him, is the person who tuned Tsubasa’s AE86 for touge runs, primarily around the Hakone region. He is a traditionally trained mechanic who focuses on C-class circuit and Group A WRC class cars. The one reason he had Tsubasa as his regular client is because of the multiple modifications he requested (meaning he was after his money) but he always gives a sincere and fair job on the car, no exemptions or compromises. Guro only wishes for none of his clients to get to an accident although it’ll vary from driver to driver. Due to Tsubasa’s attitude, Guro-sensei is quite strict with him; oftentimes trying to break Tsubasa’s nose with a mokey wrench or vice grip if he comes out as disrespectful. Like Tsubasa’s manager at Black Wings, he warned Tsubasa of his overconfidence and how it might cost not just his car but also his life.

 

Trivia:

• Guro-sensei’s name in Filipino is ironically similar to the local definition of his name alongside the Japanese pronoun next to it: both mean “Teacher or Master”

• The sight between Guro and Tsubasa is synonymous to most classic anime where the master physically abuses their student for whichever reason – good, bad, or comical.

• Guro had a slight idea of the terminologies Tsubasa was saying but was dismayed to hear that was his only reference or material as to how he knew the ins and outs of his AE86.

• Through the new modifications of Tsubasa’s AE86, it is hinted that Guro is a professional Mechanic for a racing team back in his day.

• Hints that Guro may be themed after Kazuyoshi Okamura, famed drift mechanic; given Tsubasa’s AE86 was initially drift tuned despite Tsubasa’s usage of his car.

Naoko Takahashi – Female, 26, Vice President/ Co-Owner of Akiyama Racing Academy, Toyota MR-2 SW20 GT-S driver

 

Naoko used to be Daiki Akiyama’s aide and vice president to the racing school that he owns. She started out as Daiki’s personal secretary and public representative until Daiki focused on team Japan and onwards, she was given due ownership and responsibility to handle the racing academy at his absence. Naoko used to harbor romantic feelings for Daiki despite the fact that he is in love with Claudia Fortescue, who is now deceased. Naoko’s quite understanding to Daiki and oftentimes may act tomboyish if he’s not around; especially if someone provokes her unwillingly. Although a long time member of the A.R.A. staff, she’s not much of an active Wangan Racer and is more keen on the closed circuit. She’s oftentimes found running the touge and is a very rational driver on both territories. She’s okay with Raymond as a friend but detests his flirtatious attitude.

 

Bio / Lifestory:

 

There was nothing noteworthy about Naoko in the beginning other than her being Daiki’s most trusted secretary. Despite Daiki’s cold and shrewd persona, Naoko was the only one capable of making him open up to his more humane side and was the one who consoled him at the death of his fiancée. Unbeknownst to Daiki, Naoko is a skilled independent tuner, who tuned her MR2 by herself with minimal aid from Daiki’s mechanics. One time she was shown to be competent and as independent as he is, as she faced against Shinn Ayamazaki and Keiichi Iwata at C1 and lasted long enough prior to Silverblood’s interference. 

Naoko consoled Daiki about Claudia’s death although she wasn’t told about it directly, she had a pretty good idea of what happened and comforted him by letting it all out. After the whole paranormal fiasco happening, Daiki gave Claudia’s Porsche Boxster in her care noting to Naoko that he won’t always be around the school upon accepting Midnight Masters’ offer. At least once, Naoko returned the favor by taking him to the Shutokou and asked opinions on her driving; to her surprise; Daiki praised her ability. Their relationship never went forward given Naoko could see that even beyond death, Daiki still loves Claudia.

Daiki, knowing he’d be busy with other things and other affiliations, had the full conviction of trusting the racing school to her, appointing her as the official owner in his absence. Thankful for the opportunity by her own boss, she willingly takes the role of president of the Akiyama Racing School, which was formalized later by her as the Akiyama Racing Academy. Still doing a good job, Naoko was happily fulfilling her duties around the school, dissipating the coldness when Daiki was around (his old personality’s coldness, not the current Daiki’s personality). The academy became much livelier even with the interference of Seiji Tsuchiya on one class they were having around Motegi Raceway.

*spoiler* Helping one of Daiki’s closest associates, Naoko willingly answered Seiji’s request of understanding his opponent; in this case, Tsubasa, and how to deal with it. Even after helping Seiji out, she went and did her own research if ever the need is so, which proved to be helpful on the second faceoff Seiji had. Looking at Seiji, Naoko can’t help but see Akiyama, back in the day, living under his shadow. Slowly, she became attracted to Seiji not because it was actually Seiji; but because he reminded her of Daiki so much when Daiki was quite open about his feelings. Accepting the present conditions of both individuals, Naoko slowly developed feelings for Seiji, slowly removing quips about Daiki around him and loving Seiji, himself, more. After the race against Iwasaki, Naoko during her free time, started hanging out with Seiji more and more helping him and his companions out with anything; though mostly about cars. 

 

Trivia:

• Naoko’s hairstyle is similar / identical to Aoko Aozaki of TYPE MOON’s Mahou Tsukai no Yoru series; with the main difference between them is Naoko’s eyes and hair color.

• Although neither vaguely introduced nor shown, Naoko was noted to be just a level under Daiki and Seiji in terms of driving ability; her best routes were at Hakone and C1; tracks benefiting her MR-2.

• Through the racing school, Naoko has the funds to sustain both body tunes of her MR-2, which were deemed expensive – mainly, the TRD2000GT widebody; she can freely switch between that and her base body with the lip extensions and the similar wing attached.

• Naoko’s a Tsundere – open about her feelings but passive about them when asked publicly; this was noted when Yuri Takagi asked about it.

 

 

Kawasaki Kochiiro – Male, 38, Chief Mechanic at Akiyama Racing Academy, AE111 Trueno BZ-R Owner

 

Kawasaki Kochiiro, though a member of the semi-pro racing team “Midnight Masters” is the chief mechanic of the Akiyama Racing School, also an instructor for mechanical engineering of the same school/academy. He is a retired JTC Touring car racer and tuner who specializes in suspension settings and general FF tuning overall. He was once known to have lapped the Suzuka Circuit only braking on certain parts of the track (he only braked twice) and was able to utilize the handbrake-drift and engine braking techniques throughout Suzuka.

Nowadays, Kochiiro helps out in the hands-on aspects of the Racing Academy courses, teaching students who’re tasked on the pit lane on deriving strategies and pacing their pit-stops; at the same time, she’s Naoko’s personal tuner and technical advisor around the academy. He was hired by Daiki Akiyama after Midnight Masters was defeated by Noyzee Tribe in an unofficial skirmish.

 

Trivia:

• Kochiiro’s AE111 Trueno is the second generation of the AE111 series, under the submodel BZ-R and was known to be the most powerful front-wheel-drive Trueno before succeeded by the Altis series.

• Kochiiro’s AE111 is supercharged.

• His character physique, mainly his facial structure, looks like an older version of Ryuusen Kennichi.

• Kochiiro specializes with Toyota Models, hence he was able to deal with Naoko’s requests no problem.

• It was sheer coincidence that Kochiiro’s first name is synonymous to the manufacturer name of ‘Kawasaki Group of Motorcycles’ and how he is mostly called by his last name rather than his first name; whether or not most people are more comfortable calling him by his last name or not is beyond the writer, the cast, nor the viewers.

 

 

 

 

 

Watari Kan – Male, 39, Poker Player, Mazda RX-7 type RZ Driver

 

Watari Kan, also known as White Charisma, is a legendary racer who raced alongside the famous Jintei / Speed King, Motoya Iwasaki, and was once a member of Eternal Seven – the fastest racing team in the metro 10 years ago comprised of Tokyo’s fastest & most influential drivers. After the defection of the members, the 13 Devils and the 12 Zodiacs were born; Watari created the Zodiacs with Naoki Fujimaki (a.k.a. Purple Meteor) with the hope of crushing those who’re corrupting the community by owning the Shutoku a region at a time; and gain control over the area, assigning a Zodiac to proctor the racing activity in their respective areas. He’s also the brother of the driver of R.R. by the B.A.D. name “Cornering Artist” who raced against Jintei after the Zodiacs and the Devils were taken down, and died in a car crash while racing Jintei. He was the only one who believed that Jintei was not in the wrong and he did his best to save his name despite the allegations by his former team after the Zodiacs died out. He dissolved team R.R. to honor both Cornering Artist and Jintei’s race together and became an independent racer once more – carrying the memory of his dead brother.

 

Bio / Lifestory:

 

Like Jintei, Watari was known to be a racer of his own caliber no one able to get on par to his skill. He was the first of many foes to have gained Jintei’s respect during his rise up the rankings, with Watari ending up second to him. Despite the loss, Watari respected Jintei because of his respectful demeanor as a street racer and the two of them have been racing in tandem ever since; more often than not, on the Wangan Line. Due to Watari’s profession, he can easily modify his FD, housing twin turbos, underbody covers, and a Racing spec transmission. Watari was the first to note to Jintei of his prowess and what enticed him to form Eternal Seven knowing that lots of other street racers would learn from him and the rest of the group, which would be beneficial for everyone. Watari had no qualms about this nor the rest of the members did – they were doing the community a favor of a lifetime. When the group felt divided because of the presence of the new generation corrupting the community influence, Watari was the first to contest against Jintei about the solutions to their predicament. His argument against Jintei led to the division of Eternal Seven and with him forming the 12 Zodiacs; alongside Jintei who has formed the 13 Devils – both of them with the same goal but different objectives / means and considering the other half as an enemy. Unfortunately, both factions were taken down by the likes of Daiki Akiyama and Seiji Tsuchiya unknowingly and led to their disappearance.

In a latter time, Watari formed team R.R. – Rotary Revolution specializing in RX7 based machines and his brother by the alias Cornering Artist was racing against his former companion – Jintei. Everything was going well until the race reached Shidome, where Watari was spectating from. At the second half of the S-curve, the yellow FD his brother was on started to lose control, Jintei immediately got to his outer side to cushion him safely but it backfired and sent both of them to lose control. Jintei simply spun out but the FD slammed face first into the wall after oversteering, putting Watari’s brother in a critical state, dying afterwards after a head concussion and blood loss. The rest of R.R. pinned the blame on Jintei for the assumption of saving his own hind and already-tainted record, thinking it was intentional of Jintei to kill him off. Only Watari believed otherwise and to quell the allegations, he disbanded the entire team and went back to being a lone wolf.

*spoiler* After a couple of years, during his personal expeditions as a lone wolf, Watari encounters Jintei once more, who’s now in his Subaru GDB-F and chased after him around C1, feeing a feint presence of the man whom he once considered his partner. Finding out it was Jintei he was aggravated to the fact that he mentioned his deceased brother and claims his victory over Jintei was enough to avenge his brother’s death. Watari refuses to acknowledge his victory over a shallow Jintei. Watari noted that the only time he’d actually consider the defeat / victory against him as legal is when JIntei races him on his R34, not with his STi. By the time Jintei is close to claiming his GT-R, he requested it to be installed on his GDB-F before being reinstalled back into his R, right after he challenged Watari again. Feeling the presence of the true Speed King, Watari freely accepted his outran defeat right after without hesitation knowing that even if his brother didn’t die, Jintei would still emerge victorious; thus putting the issue of his deceased brother aside. The last known interaction Watari had was when he, along with the rest of the original 13 Devils and 12 Zodiacs met up to pay pilgrimage to Watari’s brother.

 

Trivia:

• Watari Kan’s personality, background and team allegiances were a combination of the original White Charisma and Platinum Prince (of team R.R.).

• The other half of his reference – Platinum Prince who originally drives a white RX-7 FC3S, along with Cornering Artist, Watari’s brother’s BAD name - who was driving a yellow RX-7 FD3S, is a shout out to the Takahashi brothers of Initial D.

• Watari’s FD is based on the Shutokou Battle X / Import Tuner Challenge variant of White Charisma housing 600 horsepower fitting for the Tokyo Shutokou region (C1 and Shinkanjyo)

• Watari was hinted to be the third fastest driver of Eternal Seven, second being Shima and the fastest, due to his rapid growth, is Iwasaki. Though by all performance of all three drivers, they’re tied up (what separates them is their car’s performance)

• His aim of dominating the whole Shutokou expressway, one at a time, was testament to his Recruiting requirements of Street Supremacy – requires 50% of the Expressway owned to recruit White Charisma.

• The death of Cornering Artist was canon in Shutokou battle X where Platinum prince, driving an FD like White Charisma, is a boss stating that his brother was ‘hoping for the same thing’.

 

 

 

Naoki Fujimaki – Male, 53, Owner & Mechanic at Garage METEOR, Nissan Skyline BNR32 GT-R driver

 

Naoki Fujimaki, also known as Purple Meteor, is a past member of Eternal Seven followed by the 12 Zodiacs and is known to be Jintei’s mentor. Fujimaki owns a tuning garage at Kobe near the Osaka district and is also a racing representative of his own garage on seasonal Tuners’ Skirmish events where he placed top-rank at the Okutama meet. Fujimaki kept his word when Jintei, his student, requests him to keep his GT-R given he won’t be using it again after the accident with Cornering Artist. Fujimaki also tutored Iwasaki on the proper way of reclaiming back his own R from him.

 

Bio / Lifestory:

 

Fujimaki during his younger years was an avid street racer who mains a 1989 BNR32 GT-R Skyline. He was known to be once the fastest in the entire Shutokou Expressway. After challenging, one time, a local team from Minato Mirai by the name of “Speed Master R” one of their members by the alias “Iceman” wanted to learn more from Fujimaki’s way of driving. Fujimaki took up the offer and gained himself a protégé by the name of Motoya Iwasaki. Fujimaki entrusted Iwasaki all his driving techniques to the point that Iwasaki exponentially climbed up the ranks. Jintei took the title of “Speed King” from then on out; as a form of gratitude, when he formed Eternal Seven, he took his mentor along as a token of gratitude. 

By the time Eternal Seven lasted, the community became corrupted by a group of new generation drivers, Fujimaki is sensing negative attitudes from Iwasaki, assuming the influence is getting to him. He sides with Watari / White Charisma to form the 12 Zodiacs to conquer and control one region at a time as opposed to Iwasaki’s plans on full dominance and control of the entire expressway to rid off the influence. Ultimately, both the Devils and the Zodiacs were put down by the likes of daiki Akiyama and Seiji Tsuchiya moments after. Fujimaki soon retired from the expressways and went pro with his tuning and set up his own shop at Kobe near Osaka’s Kanjyo loop. 

He was soon discovered by Iwasaki during his tuner’s seasonal meet at Okutama pass where Iwasaki was begging for his R34 back. Fujimaki refutes his request stating it was not easy as he hoped it would be and that he has to earn his rights to the car back. Evidently, Fujimaki, when Iwasaki had a clear understanding of what he lacks or what he needs, assisted his student once more in understanding the fundamentals of the GT-R and its RB26.After accomplishing in developing the demand or the lust in Jintei for the GT-R, Fujimaki further assisted him and his requests about it – installing the RB engine on the STi, followed by retuning the said GT-R until it was complete. Like teacher and student, Fujimaki stayed with Iwasaki until the completion of his car. The last known interaction Fujimaki had was when he, along with the rest of the original 13 Devils and 12 Zodiacs met up to pay pilgrimage to Watari’s brother.

 

Trivia:

• Fujimaki is the oldest main character in the Fujin Series with Jintei being second.

• Fujimaki’s R32 is highly based off the one from Street Supremacy; sharing a similar body structure like that of Gran Turismo’s R32TC.

• All the assistance Fujimaki has done for Jintei was an allusion to that with Kitami Jun tuning Shima’s 911 gradually.

• The part where Fujimaki taught Jintei everything was canon and was detailed from Street Supremacy. Originally, Fujimaki held a grudge against Iwasaki but this was replaced for this plot.

• Fujimaki, like Raymond Yamazaki, may as well be considered a GT-R specialist given he took care of Jintei’s powerful R34 GT-R and the R32 he used themed after Yokohama AutoGallery.

• Fujimaki’s shop – GARAGE METEOR is a renamed reference of the Endless-R GT-R tuning shop also located at Kobe; by the Osaka region.

 

 

Yohei Kimijima – Male, 35, UNKNOWN Profession, Honda NSX SuperGT500 Base model driver

 

Yohei Kimijima who is more known as Dream Fiend on the Wangan community was a member of Eternal Seven – the fastest racing team in the metro 10 years ago comprised of Tokyo’s fastest & most influential drivers. Yohei Was affiliated with Jintei, who formed the 13 Devils alongside him when the team reached a state of dissolution because of the increasing corrupting influence of the new generation. Yohei was loyal to Jintei and may as well be considered his right hand man in almost anything they deal with around the Shutokou. He made his debut during Jintei’s preparations in getting ready to clash against Seiji Tsuchiya. He suddenly appeared to Jintei in an updated NA2 NSX-R and raced alongside his ex-companion, carrying his alias and insignia with him noting that Dreamy Ghost lives to race another day. Yohei becomes Jintei’s entourage on their way to meet with Seiji, who was accompanied by Yuri and Midnight Cinderella. Following the events after that fateful race, he was last seen with Jintei, Purple Meteor, and White Charisma paying pilgrimage to Cornering Artist’s grave.

 

Trivia:

• Dream Fiend’s NSX is an NA2 chassis built for the late 2000’s Super GT 500 league; his NSX from the original ones were an Alpine Modified NA2 and a custom NA1 widebody synonymous to the Gran Turismo NSX Race Car of GT5 / GT6.

• Dream Fiend looks young for his age; mistaking him for a 20-year old or so.

• His name was the one used from TXRD2.

• Like his Street Supremacy persona, he hates to lose – even against his own leader but if it’s Jintei, he quickly changes his mind about losing – only applies with Jintei.
